Kingscliff Police Station



 
1. Police station was moved from Tumbulgum to Kingscliff in 1959.
2. Premises occupied were retail, not at the present site of the police station today. (no records of where this was, perhaps an old resident may know). The portable cell from Tumbulgum was moved over here to accomodate the prisoners. (It is now situated at the rear of the present police station and is used only for storage).
3. First police officer assigned to Kingscliff was constable first class Cosatto. He had permission to use his own vehicle in the execution of his duties.
4. New department premises at the present site of the police station were occupied on Thursday, 17th november 1960 by Constable Cosatto. These premises were actually situated on the site of the lock up keepers residence today.
5. Constable first class towner took over as officer in charge on the 20th December 1965.
6. Senior Constable Morley took over as officer in charge at Kingscliff on the 5th July 1969. During his time at Kingscliff representations were made to upgrade the station from a one man station.
7. In 1971 approval was given for the construction of the police office and cell accomodation. When the new accomadation was provided, the original police station was converted to a third bedroom for the use of the members of the service attached to Kingscliff.
8. Sergeant third class Frank Creighton, was appointed on february 7th 1973 as an additional unit and OIC.
9. The new police station, site of the present office,was offically opened on the 3rd November 1875.
10. Kevin Welsh commenced duties at Kingscliff police station on July 1974 as a Constable First Class. He was then appointed as lockup keeper.
11. Sergeant Frank Crieghton moved into his newly completed brick veneer resisdence situated at the rear of the police station building in August of 1978.
12.Peter Walsh, Sergeant Third Class, took over as OIC from John Clarke in September 1983.
13.Sergeant Ian Spiers commenced duties as Officer in Charge in September 1989. Senior Constable Warren Mc Call is the lock- up Keeper, and currently there are four other serving police officers stationed at Kingscliff.
